About the project ``Transfertage``

The Transfer Days are a series of events organised by the Centre for Development Communication – Communication for Social Change (EC4SC) at the Institute for Communication and Media Studies at the University of Leipzig.

The aim of the Transfer Days conference series is to facilitate the interaction between research and practice in the field of C4SC (Communication for Social Change) as a knowledge summit series. The conference enables a multifaceted and mutually enriching exchange with academics, social mobilisers, organisations, activists, mediators, journalists and all those who feel addressed in this field. We also explicitly invite groups from outside the field to exchange ideas and network in order to further establish the research field of development communication.

The starting point of this project is the Communication for Social Change (C4SC) approach, which aims to explore the concrete effects and manifestations of the pluralisation of the public sphere. C4SC is understood as a public and private dialogue process in which individuals can and should define for themselves how a social transformation towards sustainable change and social cohesion instead of polarisation can be promoted.

Three levels are considered necessary for sustainable development in C4SC: the micro level of individuals (social and behaviour change communication), the meso level of communities and organisations, and the political macro level (advocacy communication).

These are forms and processes of (self-)mobilisation and interaction that take place in groups, organisations and networks and that can and want to contribute to social change from below.
